The HackBio Cancer Internship 2024 has just concluded, bringing together a vibrant community of budding scientists and tech enthusiasts in the fight against cancer. This unique, hands-on internship program allowed participants to dive deep into multiple domains within cancer research, all while building practical skills and connections with mentors and peers.

Through a series of collaborative tasks, participants completed projects that explored innovative solutions in cancer genomics, bioinformatics, data science, and more. The internship tasks were designed to provide hands-on experience with real-world data, tools, and techniques critical to today’s cancer research landscape.

The HackBio Cancer Internship 2024 offered participants the chance to specialize in one of several high-impact learning tracks:

  • Genomic Epidemiology: Examining the role of genomic variations and epidemiological trends in cancer incidence and treatment responses.
  • Frontend Bioinformatics: Developing user interfaces and tools to make bioinformatics data more accessible and useful for researchers.
  • Data Science: Analyzing complex datasets to uncover patterns, insights, and potential new approaches in cancer diagnostics and treatment.
  • Biomarker Development: Identifying and validating biomarkers that can improve cancer detection, diagnosis, and monitoring.
